The nucleus and nuclear reactions

Author: Shalva Salukvadze
Annotation:

This bachelor's thesis mainly focuses on the nucleus and nuclear reactions. It discusses the droplet model of the nucleus. Within this model, several important examples are presented from the point of view of estimating the nuclear binding energy. It is shown that for mirror nuclei the difference in binding energies is due only to the different magnitude of the Coulomb interaction in the binding energy. The article mainly presents nuclear fusion and fission reactions occurring on the Sun and in the reactor. As an important example, the article considers an exotic atom, protonium, and estimates the strong interaction constant.
